Apparently, Winnipeg is claiming to possess the world's "longest" skating path as means to cope with their neverending pain of losing the much loved Winnipeg Jets. Problem is, CBC had me convinced until the very last paragraph of this article. Conraddo was right, I guess "girth" is the new "length". Ciao!

If any of you are concerned about how the Feds are planning to "update" this country's Copyright Act, Canada's leading expert on privacy on the web, Professor Micheal Geist's blog is the place to be. Recently, the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has officially weighed-in on the proposed changes to the Copyright Act with a "formal" letter to the Minister of Industry and Heritage. It seems the "powers that be" have finally understood the (major) privacy problems associated with DRM technologies.

Interesting article on the relationship between Radiohead's OK Computer and In Rainbows.
Kinda Reminds me of the Flight of the Conchords track where they break into a binary solo!

"As counterintuitive as it may seem in this age of iPods and digital
downloads, vinyl -- the favorite physical format of indie music
collectors and audiophiles -- is poised to re-enter the mainstream, or
at least become a major tributary."
"Pressing plants are ramping up production, but where is the demand
coming from? Why do so many people still love vinyl, even though its
bulky, analog nature is anathema to everything music is supposed to be
these days? Records, the vinyl evangelists will tell you, provide more
of a connection between fans and artists. And many of today's music
fans buy 180-gram vinyl LPs for home listening and MP3s for their
portable devices."

Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. "Image
displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and
desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application
windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or
light) screen than a black (or dark) screen."
